What I’m doing at Writefest 2022
After being on hiatus due to Covid, Writespace Houston’s Writefest is back and online! This three-day event features workshops with Mahogany Browne, Thomas McNeely, Kathryn Kulpa, Anjali Enjeti, Ayokunle Falomo, Eugene Fischer, Tayyba Kanwal, Sim Kern, Cassandra Rose Clarke, and many others, including me!
Here’s where I’ll be:
Friday, April 29, 2:30-4:30 pm: Tayyba Kanwal and I are going to lead a workshop on Everything Submissions. Get the ins and outs of submitting your work—regardless of genre—at this workshop. We’ll cover finding opportunities for publication, formatting conventions, using online submission managers, and what happens when your submission is accepted. All levels of writers are welcome.
Saturday, April 30, 9-10 am: I’m a panelist on”Memoir: Writing from the Interior.” Memoir doesn’t have to be a book, written in prose, that is linear and chronological. It can be a poem, or six, written in any order, at any time. Bring questions!
Saturday, April 30, 10-11 am: I’m moderating the panel and repping #CripLit and being #ActuallyAutistic in “Inclusivity and Representation: Writing a Real World.” Join me and five other writers as we talk about writing about diversity and diverse characters. Bring questions!
